Remembering Monty.

Hello, everyone. Even though most of us did not know Monty Oum personally, I can tell that we are all grieving over his passing. I can say for myself that so far this week I couldn't get him off my mind.

It's important that even as we move on, we reflect on why we love Monty so much. I have taken the time to collect all of the responses the Rooster Teeth people have put out this pass week. If you don't have a twitter or Rooster Teeth account, this is for you. It's a huge list, so I'll link it all on the bottom.

We have gotten a HUGE amount of RIP art, so we are opening a new folder just for those pieces. All of the work that has already been accepted will be moved there. The folder will be closed once there are no more pieces being submitted just to make sure there aren't too many folders to submit to. If you make a piece much later and the folder is closed, just note us to put your work there. The folder will be opened again at times we expect there to be more works made, particularly his birthday (June 22), when RWBY premieres, and the anniversary of his passing.

Finally, I want to point out some tweets Lindsay made today.

To anyone else who wants to ask me “What’s going to happen to RWBY/RVB?!” Don’t. I’ve already received far too many. Not our main concern.

Wow. Just... Wow. The moment I told the group of Monty's hospitalization/passing, people were giving comments just like this. I know it's not dumb to wonder what the future holds for the shows Monty worked on, but it is extremely rude and just plain selfish to ask these things the moment you learned he died.  I mean, for Pete's sake someone wondered what this would mean for their freaking fanfic.
How would you feel if your grandmother died and all your friend could say is "well, that's sad. And btw, who's gonna make those special apple pies now?"

That is extremely hurtful and insensitive. I sincerely hope that none of you here have badgered Rooster Teeth employees on what's gonna happen with RVB and RWBY. It has really pissed me off and I can't even imagine what it does to his friends and family.

Yes, we remember him for his work and talent, but we don't grieve over the fact that we can't get anymore content from him. We grieve that Monty Oum, an amazing passionate artist that inspired thousands of people, has died far too young and wasn't done making the world a better place. Have some sensitivity and etiquette.
