Deviants

It wasn’t the day we were told, but the first of February, 2015, was the day when Monty Oum passed away. Suffering an allergic reaction to a medical procedure on the 22nd of January, he was comatose until the first of February. We mourned and grieved. This community showed incredible support for the man, raising over 200,000 USD for his family. But support should not be measured by wealth alone. Monty’s legacy was not in money but in the creation of art, which will last well beyond his death, perhaps even our own.

What did he leave behind? A family of siblings, great friends, a strong father, and a courageous wife. An army of fans, inspired by his creativity. Two web series, each destined to last for more than a generation; to watch one is impossible without seeing the other. A treasure trove of interviews, podcasts, vines, and other videos showcasing his talent, his humor, and his successes.

He began his extraordinary rise to prominence in 2007 when he finished and released his legendary Haloid video. He would eventually go on to work for Rooster Teeth in animating RvB and finally in writing, producing, and animating RWBY.

For a short eight years he accomplished incredible feats. After one year without him, let’s take a moment to reflect on his influence for all of us. We’ve been moving forward, per his request; and a great amount of art has been produced because of his legacy. We’d all love to know how such a great man influenced you.

If you want to know how he influenced his friends and family, here’s a journal compiling all of their reflections: rwby.deviantart.com/journal/Re…

Burnie made a second post a few weeks after people had begun to pick up the pieces: roosterteeth.com/post/3315179

And Barbara has written her own letter to Monty now: roosterteeth.com/post/51197815

Keep moving forward, but remember who gave you that push.

Did my request get canceled? It said it was accepted so I thought it was alright to remove from my notifications, did that cancel it or something?

I have no idea when you submitted it, but I would have denied it as it's a character profile from a video game.

Also, you shouldn't steal art from other people. Even though you're giving credit to the actual artist, they did not give consent. Please find it in your heart to delete the stolen deviations.

You accepted it yesterday, it was my commission by Dishwasher1910. Remember?

I suppose you make a fair point, sorry.

We accepted it. It's possible that Dishwasher, the one who controls the post, removed it. However, an admin is just as capable of doing this.

The mystery deepens. Worry not. Resubmit the commission, and we'll accept it.

Hello, I made a pic in remembrance of monty oum, but I have doubta due to my pic being made in 3d software with models ripped out of the game, one of which is rwby grimn eclipse that is only on early access.
If it is not allowed, that is okay because i do not want to indirectly insult both the already passed on creator and the teams who show hardwork and face many rocky obstacle, but I seen at least one pic submitted here that has the ripped model I described earlier.

We'll take it in the Groups and Pairs folder, but it's not really fit for the Remembering Monty Oum folder.

just a little thought but i don't think this "quality control" thing should be in place. i see no other reason for it other than the restriction of submissions due to someone else's opinion. a real group should be made so anyone can show off their hard work and determination, not made to shut down what i can only assume is being implied to be "bad quality art". call me old fashioned but i am an American, so i can only believe in the one true freedom to express one's self without other's limitations
